Age of Blood

This was a really challenging but enjoyable pitch due to the extremely tight schedule back in 2017. Six weeks from concept to completion if I remember correctly. Directed by Andrew Ruhemann, Design by Tomer Hanuka, Boarded by Brendan Houghton, Anim/Rendering/Comp at Red Knuckles Studio (Rick Thiele and Mario Ucci) and I assisted the folks mentioned above. Additional comp and titles by Johnny Still.

I thought it was a real shame this was not picked up to be produced for a series. It really could have been a great way to integrate storytelling and history with an edge.

check out the spot here and the rest of the great work done at Red Knuckles Studio.

Ask Jeeves

I was digging around in my files and found this artifact. One of my many design contributions for the Ask Jeeves character.

Netflix Sex Education Season 03 Episode 07

This was produced at Future Power Station and directed by Yibi Hu. I animated the last shot of the spot. It sure had its share of animation challenges.

Apex Legends | Stories from the Outlands – “Metamorphosis”

Robert Valley did a great job directing and communicating this character's origin story a story in approx. 90 seconds. This was an interesting one for me, some of the shots appear quite simple but were a real challenge to get working well. I animated the first half and Andy McPherson the second half.

A special shout out to Martial Coulon and Raymond Pangs FX work. All of it was achieved with integrating aftereffects and hand drawn artwork, for those that are curious.

And I have to say, This particular creative team at EA were an excellent group of people and a real pleasure to work for.

Andy McPherson animated the diving Seer, Martial Coulon the BG and chest prop. I animated the ghosted images

Simone Biles VS Trolls

I was asked to contribute a drawing of Simone for this project in a certain design style. At the time I was working on another job and this was one of those mid morning phone calls "can we get something by noon" sort of thing. Passion-Pictures produced the final spot with Jon Saunders directing. I think there is some nice work and ideas in it, most importantly the message. Best of Luck to Simone in the Olympics and her future.

Love, Death + Robots Vol 2: Ice

"Ice" is Robert Valley's animated vision of the short story written by Rich Larson which was produced by Passion-Pictures. Robs crew consists of a very small tight group of excellent artists and production staff. Just a really great bunch of people overall. Congrats to both Rob and Patricio on their Emmy Wins for this short.

Rob allocated the entire Bunk Sequence for me to animate. He supplies the animators with a tight layout drawing or two on average, and he also gives very clear direction of what he's looking for. This is a real blessing due to the tight scheduling that is happening more and more on these jobs. For the most part we have one pass at getting a shot acceptable, then its onto the next.

For those of you curious on Roberts workflow pipeline, Check out his "ICE behind the scenes"

This was the first shot I animated (below) and it was part of the Look Dev to develop an Ice texture. Andy McPherson did the other Look Dev shot. (Fletcher jumping up onto the top of the cleaning machine.) check out his Instagram. andymccollmcpherson

There were a few other shots I animated throughout here and there.

Shout out to Raymond Pang for the hand drawn FX animation and Martial Coulon for the blowing snow and machines. The pair of them are sorcerers. Also, the amazing group of animation assistants that tie down and fix the drawings to make them look beautiful.. Thank you.
